StuffBuff is a Social eCommerce company where users can catalog everything they own and sell them in short chat based auctions where buyers and sellers interact in real time using AJAX Push technology. Anytime a dollar figure is submitted into the chat it registers as a committed bid. Auctions are embeddable as fully functional widgets into websites, blogs and social networks, enabling anyone to participate and share relevant auctions to relevant people and spread auctions in a viral and social way .
Cataloging tools that users can utilize include: Barcode scanning using cell phone cameras and computer webcams Twitter entry of items to a particular list using EAN or Keyword Proprietary “complete Room scan” for bulk cataloging. More methods are in development.
Users can use the cataloging tools for free with no advertising on the site and are not required to sell anything they catalog. StuffBuff users can view their friends stuff and follow the collection of those they admire.
StuffBuff.com also offers a hybrid auction/selling method that is part entertainment shopping, part Dutch Auction, and part “buy it now”. “Blink” as it is called begins at a set price, as more people join the auction the faster the price falls. The first participant to click the “buy” button wins the item. As with the chat auctions, Blink is embeddable as functional widgets as well.
StuffBuff is one of the early developers accepted to utilize the new PayPal adaptive payments platform and is implementing these new auctions systems partially utilizing PayPal “X” technology.
StuffBuff was a demo company in the 2009 TechCrunch50 DemoPit.
