Stillwater Supercomputing, Inc. designs and markets a compute accelerator for computational science. The compute accelerator is based on a specialized semiconductor device called the Stillwater Knowledge Processing Unit, or KPUTM. The KPU provides unmatched price/performance at ultra low power to expand the market for high-performance computing to the small and medium-sized enterprise.
The Stillwater business model is a pure fabless semiconductor business. That is, we design, market, and sell the KPU directly to cloud providers and IHVs. To create demand for the KPU, we work with cloud providers and ISVs to help the ISV enable the KPU in their software. We do this through a Platform-as-a-Service model, where Stillwater develops software components that encapsulate complex algorithms that are essential in computational science and digital game entertainment workloads. These components can be rapidly assembled into applications by the ISVs and deployed in the cloud.
