Simplifying the management of sites and services that you already use like blogs and social networks, socialthing! synchronizes your personal information, content, and friendships so that you can post this information across the social web, as opposed to just having it contained in a single site.

Socialthing is a 2007 TechStars company.

Socialthing went into private alpha on January 15th, 2008 and launched their private beta at SXSW in March 2008.

Socialthing was acquired by AOL. While the price is unconfirmed, the acquisition value is rumored to be between $5M - $10M.

@Firax, Look at mugshot.org's widget. It's by Redhat (and going since '06) and FOSS, so won't be any problem.

Very useful information. I was looking for FriendFeed's competitors everywhere. In case you are wondering why I would ever abandon FriendFeed? Well, not only is the interface butt ugly, but so is it's widget. The only reason why I would get such a "lifestreaming" account is to display it on my personal website... now without a proper widget (WHICH IS CUSTOMIZABLE - in terms of color AT LEAST) the whole service is freaking useless. I already asked FriendFeed to do something about it's non-customizable widget... they said they "are working on it".... yeah sure.. why do I not believe that?! Ever wondered why FriendFeed's widget is super hard to find? Well, they ARE ashamed of it.
