SocialPicks is a social network based around stocks.
Here’s the general premise behind SocialPicks: users enter their stock trading activities and thoughts. They then befriend and rate other users. Reputations are built according to a user’s percentage of winning picks, quality of insights as judged by the community, and number of trades made. Requisite features of a standard social network are present: commenting, feeds, and lists of popular stocks.
In addition, their BlogTracker feature is quite interesting – and a possible selling point. Bloggers can submit their financial blog to SocialPicks. They’ll parse the RSS feed to try and determine when the blogger is giving an opinion on the future performance of a stock. It appears that this is human verified.
Competitors: Feeling Bullish, Bullpoo, Stocktickr and Digstock.
