The company provides the Movable Type social publishing platform, the TypePad hosted blogging service, Vox, a free blogging service for friends and families, advertising solutions for leading brands and influential bloggers, and a wide range of services dedicated to help bloggers thrive in today’s social media landscape. Six Apart owned and operated Livejournal, a widely popular personal blogging community, from January 2005 to December 2007.

The main competitors to Movable Type and Typepad are WordPress.com and Xanga, respectively.
