Shindig

Shindig is a NYC based start-up committed to unleashing the unrealized potential of video chat. Shindig’s patented technology enables artists, DJs, speakers, and authors to create video chat events with all the dynamics of physical events at Internet scale. Shindig events can host thousands of simultaneous participants who can all see and be seen by one another. Participants can freely engage in private video chat conversations with each other while enjoying a talk, interview, or any other from of presentation. Hosts can also select audience members to come up and “share the stage” and interact directly with presenters “face-to-face” in front of the entire gathering. The platform supports multimedia presentations such as Powerpoint presentations and audio/video files. This highly customizable VIP access offers substantial new opportunities for monetization while also producing a low-cost video archive with significant follow value. It also seques naturally to paid events, webinars and panels.

Still in Beta, hundreds of prominent hosts (including Hugh Howey, Big Daddy Kane, Michael Pollan, TEDx, David Houle, and Guy Kawasaki among others) have already embraced Shindig for their online events. Shindig aims to redefine the state of the art of online engagement in a multitude of verticals from online promotional events, conferences, nightclubs, business meetings, games and distance learning.

The company was founded in 2009 by Yale College, Harvard Law grad Steve Gottlieb whose prior entrepreneurial success includes building TVT Records, one of the most successful independent record labels in the history of the US recording industry, acompany with an unprecedented 25 Gold and Platinum releases to its credit. Gottlieb discovered Nine Inch Nails, Ja Rule, Lil Jon, Underworld, Pitbull, and others.
