Sermo is the largest online physician community in the US. It’s where practicing US physicians—spanning 68 specialties and all 50 states—collaborate on difficult cases and exchange observations about drugs, devices and clinical issues.
Sermo is free to practicing physicians. Revenue is generated as healthcare institutions, financial services firms and government agencies purchase Sermo products to access this elite group of practitioners.

Sermo is only open to physicians licensed to practice in the United States. They say it’s not easy for just anyone to join the site. Sermo uses a proprietary technology to verify physicians’ credentials in real-time.
Once a physician joins the site, they are presented with the Postings section. This is really where the community develops. Once there, they can write, vote and comment on previous postings. On certain sponsored posts, physicians are actually paid to share their opinion. In addition, physicians are free to discuss any topic pertinent to the medical community.
The site kindly reminds its users to “please maintain appropriate standards and disclose any conflicts of interest” while posting.
