| Description | Use Sclipo to Teach, Learn and Socialize |
What is Sclipo? Sclipo is a next generation Learning Management System (LMS) web application, also known as Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) or a Course Management System (CMS). Sclipo helps teachers teach better and students learn more by providing them with advanced eLearning tools integrated with social features.
=======
What problem does Sclipo solve, and for whom? Sclipo is for freelance teachers, small companies and continuous education centers for whom a traditional LMS is too expensive as well as too complex offering many features they do not need. This is why our target has been using generic web apps. These however lack specialization to work well for educational purposes.
=======
Why use Sclipo to teach and learn? Sclipo provides the right mix of e-Learning apps for continuous education, it is easy to use and very cost effective. In addition, using Sclipo means to form part of a social network. Teachers and students on Sclipo can connect and share with people and organizations in education from all around the globe. This has never before been possible in the world of e-Learning, where one can only interact with members of the same school or organization that hosts the LMS.
=======
What e-Learning tools does Sclipo provide? Each member has a private profile and can open a Web Academy. Both provide e-Learning tools.
Web Academies provide these e-Learning tools: Course Manager, Live Web Teaching, Library, Events and Groups. In addition, Web Academies have tools to invite, administer, communicate and share with students. Web Academies can also collect payments. Here a summary of each tool:
• Courses: This application allows you to publish, manage and teach your face-2-face and online courses. It allows you to share content, hold discussions, schedule live sessions and post messages on the course wall. Courses comes with an advanced administration panel to invite, approve and communicate with participants. Courses can be public and private. You can also charge for courses and collect fees. Sclipo takes no commission.
• Live Web Teaching: This application allows to conduct live classes, webinars and meetings with 99 participants or more. A live session can be stand-alone, or part of a course, event or group. You teach through webcam (= video chat), document sharing, whiteboard, text chat and (soon) screen sharing. You can schedule an unlimited number of public and private sessions. You have an administration panel to invite, approve, administer and communicate with participants. You can also charge and collect payments. Sclipo takes no commission.
• Library: This application allows you to store, share and manage the content (videos, papers, presentations, audio and images) you use for teaching. You can store your own content and use content from thousands of other Academies on Sclipo. You can use the content in courses and live sessions, and share it in your groups and events. Your content can be private or public.
• Events: This application helps you organize off-line educational happenings such as conferences, workshops and lectures. You can discuss on the event wall, stream event sessions live and share content with participants.
• Groups: This application helps you collaborate online with fellow students and teachers for studying, researching or conducting other collaboration activities. You can discuss on the group wall, hold live online meetings and share content with members.
The private Profile helps to manage your learning activities and to connect and socialize with other members. For members who also teach on Sclipo, their Profile showcases teaching activities. The Profile is private. Each member controls who can view it. Members can connect their Profile with their Facebook account. This way, teaching and learning activities can be published automatically to their Facebook wall.

Sclipo is a social learning network. People use Sclipo to teach, learn and to connect with people of common educational interests. Sclipo integrates rich educational applications - such as an educational video player and a live web classroom - with social network features.
At Sclipo, each member has a personal Profile to connect with other members and to enroll in courses, join study groups and participate in educational events. The member Profile also serves to store learning materials and to showcase teaching activities - if a member uses Sclipo also to teach.
All Sclipo members have the option to teach, both formally and informally.
