Samasource is an award-winning technology social enterprise that provides dignified, internet-based work to people living in poverty. Samasource offers data and content management services to leading enterprise clients, including Fortune 500 companies. By breaking down large projects into “microwork,” Samasource is able to disperse complex projects to delivery centers across the globe.
Samasource provides an alternative to standard business process outsourcing companies. Their services include high quality data entry, transcription, content generation, image tagging, business & product verification, and much more. Currently, Samasource’s clients include large consumer websites, Facebook application developers, nonprofits, and socially responsible companies.
Samasource workers must pass a rigorous quality and social impact screening which includes site visits, personal interviews, and reference checks. They adhere to common sales, project management and payment methods, and must agree to a code of conduct that includes progressive labor and environmental policies.
Samasource is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit social business based in San Francisco and was founded in mid-2008. The organization received seed funding from the International Business in Development Challenge and the Stanford Social Enterprise Challenge. Samasource was awarded the 2012 U.S. Secretary’s Innovation Award for the Empowerment of Women and Girls.
