Founded by MIT scientists, QMedic is a passive wearable sensing platform and personal emergency response solution that provides 24/7 connectivity between seniors and remote caregivers. The solution continuously samples behavioral data and does not require battery recharge. Behavioral data sampled includes physical activity, sleep, balance and falls. Caregivers can receive real-time alerts via smartphone, tablet, email, or text message. QMedic provides 24-hour access to emergency call center services.
QMedic has received nearly $2.5 Million from the National Cancer Institute and National Institutes of Health through the SBIR program, and has a 3-year clinical partnership with Northwestern University’s Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center. The company won the 2013 Cleveland Clinic Future of Medicine Award and was a finalist for the 2012 AARP Innovation 50+ Award and the 2013 Amazon Web Services Global Startup Challenge. The team and advisors include experts in wearable computing, machine learning, and health IT strategy and sales from MIT, Stanford, and industry.
