I think project playlist is a great site, and people should be allowed to have their playlists on myspace, facebook, etc. This whole thing against it is...stupid ! Lol

Project playlist is a great site

I agree as well. The fact that I can still listen to my music on my playlist if I go to the project playlist website yet they wont let me play the music on my profile on myspace. If they really thought about it the music is still free if we can have our playlists and not delete them from under our noses. So, Yes it's pointless.

I agree with Dbone2you. If they really wanted to prevent copyright infringement, they wouldn't allow free internet playback AT ALL. Do they have any idea how easy it is to record a track while the song or its music video is streaming from the browser? One doesn't even have to download the MP3! This whole thing is futile! And if they tried to take free streaming down, that would make a lot of people angry. So yeah. The argument is pointless.

I think that they should just shut up about the copyright infringement thing, it's so stupid, no matter how much they complain, people are going to find a way to get their music....it's been going on for years, I mean we listen to it on the radio for free right? this has been going on every since the invention of the tape recorder, I remember when a song came on the radio I would hit record on my tape deck and blam there it is! songs in order on tape.

I can't believe they removed my playlist. I don't see why anyone would complain. I have found song from artist while doing searches for other songs of the same artist, that I later purchased on i-tunes. I might not have even heard these songs if not searching for another tune. I have also heard songs on other friends profiles playlists, that I have purchased. I don't know that I would have heard some of these songs or artist otherwise. I think that it good advertising for musicians.

i also tried out myspace's playlist and they didn't have the songs it has on project playlist.
Ryan - December 22, 2008 at 11:13pm
In my opinon, I think that myspace is just blocking project playlist not because of the lawsuit, but because project playlist allows 200 songs on one playlist while myspace's playlist allows 10 songs.

I think artist are entitled to a copyright & royalties for their work within a certain timeline. HOWEVER, I think after that copyright time has passed & the artist/company have made their money the song/s should no longer be a copyright infringement. It should be allowed to be shared even if its just allowed played on a Project Playlist program or others like it. There comes a point when the question should be asked how much money is enough before its no longer allowed in a lawsuit. The artist/companies have made their money, more then 10x over. People have bought their music. Why is it the music is not allowed to shared? The music has been paid for! If its been paid for then doesn’t the it becomes the property of those who paid for it? Are they not entitled to share it if they wish since technically it is now their property once they've bought it? It doesn’t mean they’re allowed to profit from it, but they should be able to share it. Project Playlist shouldn’t be faulted for what they are doing they’re not infringing on copyrights its not like they are saying here you go copy it. On the contrary, they are allowing people to be able to listen to the music on a player linked to project playlist from the individuals own personal or work computer without coping. If programs like project playlist are going to be subjected to a lawsuit for this, then why are not radio stations being subjected to the same lawsuits? The radio stations have their own playlist on their websites and they are not paying artist for playing their songs and in all true honesty people are able to hit the record button on a recorder of some kind to record the song from the radio stations. Wouldn’t that constitute an infringement of some kind as well? And with the economy in the financial position its in, when is enough, enough? The whole idea of this lawsuit on project playlist and others like it, is a disgusting display of overkill on power and greed that’s put our economy in the position its in!

I want my playlists back! They kept me company at work all day long! : ( it kept me sane! in a insane environment! uggh!
Nancy - December 21, 2008 at 8:11pm
Uggh! My playlists disappeared off my page I had lots of music that had many fun memories. Its such a disapointment you would think that the artists/labels would appreciate our love for music and the free advertising by posting it to our pages. I know that I bought alot of the music I found thru Project playlist at my local Amoeba Record store in Hollywood. Sad to see them go!

No, it shut down for me, too. I find it INTERESTING, and stupid. I've done my homework - this site just confirms that Project Playlist is legal. Although the credibility from sites like this and sites like Wikipedia may be questionable, it still remains - wtf is going on here? And just because MYSPACE blocks Project Playlist doesn't mean the site should close down completely. I get the feeling we're just two of many people who are in desperate, angry need of answers.
