PokerStars.com
Founded in 2001, PokerStars is the world’s largest poker site, with over 36 million members as of June 2010. It’s the home of tournament poker, with more daily tournaments than anywhere else. PokerStars offers a range of poker games, including Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Stud and various mixed games. These are available at a wide range of limits that suit every type of player, with games running around the clock and a tournament starting every second.
PokerStars is home to the biggest weekly online tournament, The Sunday Million, plus the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) – the premier annual online poker tournament series in the world. It also hosts the Spring Championship of Online Poker - All Stakes (SCOOP), a unique poker series that offers championship-level poker events to players at all stakes levels, with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 all the way up to $25,500.
As the official sponsor of a host of live tournaments, PokerStars offers the opportunity to qualify for various live events. These include the European Poker Tour (EPT), which generates the biggest prize pool of any poker tour, as well as PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), staged on the shores of Paradise Island in the Bahamas, which is the largest and richest tournament outside of Las Vegas. There are also opportunities to qualify for the North American Poker Tour, the Latin American Poker Tour, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour and many other regional tours.
PokerStars holds the official Guinness World Record for hosting the ‘Largest Online Poker Tournament’ and ‘Most Players in an Internet Poker Room’.
It’s also home to an elite team of sponsored players known as Team PokerStars Pro – a group of established and up-and-coming players that travel the world competing in international tournaments.
