PneumaCare

PneumaCare is focused on development of products for diagnosis and monitoring of respiratory disease using novel 3D imaging technology, developed by the University of Cambridge. The Company’s first product is a non–contact respiratory monitoring system for physician assessment, called PneumaScan™, which has clinical applications in a number of medical environments. Using PneumaScan™, patients can be assessed while breathing naturally or performing spirometric manoeuvres without the need to breathe into, interact with or contact the measuring device.

PneumaCare’s products, the PneumaScanâ„¢ family, enables clinicians to access many different patient-types, many of which are not within the capabilities of current clinical devices. The system is being constantly evaluated in clinical practice, currently at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London and in development laboratories at its design and manufacturing partner, Plextek.

PneumaScanâ„¢ produces standard medical outputs for a broader portion of the population because it observes patients from a distance and does not impede the respiratory system as with current spirometer technology. Measuring from a distance means lower infection risk, less harm, reduced patient discomfort and minimal instrument running costs from having to replace or sterilise parts which have contacted the patient.

PneumaScan-P2 Respiratory Diagnostic Device

PneumaCare’s products, PneumaScanâ„¢, enables clinicians to access many different patient-types, many of which are not within the capabilities of current clinical devices. PneumaScanâ„¢ is a 3D optical non–contact vital sign monitor of for clinical management, intensive care and homecare applications.

PneumaScan™ produces standard medical outputs for a broader portion of the population because it observes patients from a distance. Measuring from a distance means lower infection risk, less harm, reduced patient discomfort and minimal instrument running costs from having to replace or sterilise parts which have contacted that patient. Moreover, PneumaScan’s dynamic-3D-imaging approach provides novel information and a fresh clinical perspective about the intra-thoracic motion during a breath which has implications for both diagnostics and critical care monitoring.

Using PneumaScanâ„¢ patients can be assessed during exercises or while breathing naturally while in front of the device. For example, young children who have trouble overcoming the resistance in a traditional spirometer can be assessed while lying comfortably under the PneumaScan. There are also applications in post-operative anaesthesia recovery, neonatal in-incubator monitoring, sleep apnoea and home care monitoring.

-Precise determination of key respiratory parameters -Compact instrument and stand -Measurements while the patent is supine, sitting or standing, at rest or during exercise -Breath-by-breath and Intra-breath data collection -Assessments of a broad range of patients, all age groups -Lower infection risk; reduced sterilisation requirements
-Lower running costs
