Plurk

Plurk (plüer-kh) offers users a way to chronicle and share the things they do, the way they feel, and all the other things. Plurk is similar to Twitter in its basic functionality, except that each initial comment is given a thread of responses, making it more conversational in style. Plurk asks users to select qualifiers such as loves, likes, is, hates, etc for each message. This means every message you write is in third person.

Like Pownce, Plurk lets you embed Flickr images and YouTube videos. Plurk has added image hosting to the site to ease the posting of photos.

Additionally, Plurk differs from Twitter in its user interface. Plurk shows your friends’ updates in a horizontally scrolling timeline.

Plurk is creating a dynamic interface. Their key to adoption will be for people with influence such as Hollywood and to bloggers to gain traction. at the end, the consumer wins.

Plurk gives me more opportunity to interact with other people, which makes it more of a 'social network' then Twitter. It is dynamic and fun, whereas Twitter can be very static.

I've tried Twitter and hated it... I swiftly moved onto Plurk and have since not looked back. It's great and a lot of fun but I've come to see it's not for everyone :)
