Plukka sells own-brand fine designer jewelry (18k gold, diamonds, gemstones) at savings of 70-90% compared to customary retail prices, through a social shopping process where, first, no item is produced unless enough customers have committed to buy it and, second, the price of an item falls in real time as more customers commit to purchase it. Products are offered to customers through events lasting between 24-48 hours. Plukka has registered a patent for its unique sales mechanism.

The company was co-founded in 2011 by Jai Waney and Joanne Ooi.
