On2 Flix Cloud is a web-based transcoding service that reduces the cost and complexity of transcoding of digital video.

Flix Cloud is a Ruby on Rails web application that uses Amazon EC2 machine images as transcoding “workers.” The workers run our On2 Flix Engine transcoding SDK. At any time we can run as many workers as we need to handle the encoding demand from our customers.

In developing Flix Cloud we focused on areas that our research indicated were important to the market:

  • Speed & high throughput to keep job queues as short as possible
  • Low fees based on data volume ($1.75/GB in, $2.25/GB out)
  • No cost of entry, no monthly fees
  • Support popular output formats for web, mobile, devices, HD
  • High video quality
  • Simple RESTful API

Flix Cloud is a partnership of On2 Technologies & Zencoder, LLC.
