numberFire is an analytics framework that empowers sports consumers to make smarter decisions. Over 50 million people play fantasy sports or bet on the games, but they are lost when it comes to advice, as most of the content available is opinionated, qualitative, and non-substantive. To meet the opportunities in this market, we apply Wall Street-style quantitative analysis to the massive amounts of data that exists around sports in order to deliver best-in-breed insight and advice for our users and media partners.
We alpha-launched our product in 2010, where we outpredicted the experts at ESPN and Yahoo! 70% of the time. Users soon followed, and we finished the season with 30,000 users and tons of great press coverage. The company derives revenue from media sales and partnerships to companies like ESPN on the B2B side, and through freemium subscriptions to our services on the B2C side.
