Founded in 1998, MyFamily.com dubs itself “the best way to connect with your family online.” The site helps people create websites centered around their own families. Family members can then post photos, make comments, tell stories and add events to the family calendar. The site is currently testing out a new design which has a very “Web 2.0” feel.
MyFamily originally evolved from Ancestry, a print publishing company. The site is now part of The Generations Network, which also owns Ancestry.com among other sites.

MyFamily gives users a number of tools to stay in touch with their family members, no matter how far away they are.
Users can upload photos to share with their family. If they want to share them with friends too, MyFamily lets users create a special page with only the pictures they want their friends to have access to. Users can also make custom photo books, calendars, photo cards, posters and more. As if there wasn’t already enough to do with your photos, users also have the option of creating a “story,” which is an audio slideshow.
The News section is a place for your family to communicate. In addition to posting news, users can call a toll free phone number to leave voice messages that will be posted directly to the site.
If you’re one of those people who always forgets family members’ birthdays, then you’ll appreciate the “Events and Reminders” section. You and your family members can post birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, reunions, weddings and other important events. If you don’t check the site very often, you can setup e-mail reminders for events. You really don’t have an excuse for forgetting someone’s birthday anymore.
