The website focuses exclusively on male grooming and lifestyle giving members a chance to try up-to 5 different products every month. Members pay a monthly fee of $10.00 which gives them access to boxes of male essentials that are delivered during the first week of every month. Members can purchase the full size item of the online store for a discounted price by receiving 15% cash back of the retail price. Free shipping is offered on products over $30.
My Platinum Box just launched this month and is in beta stage, and is accumulating a fixed number of members (500) to start shipping out boxes at the end of January (end of month due to holidays).
The company was started by 2 friends one attending UCLA and another California State University Fullerton. They started this company on a small observation that many guys never stop to accept or try out samples given out at department stores or boutiques in malls. Of course this model is nothing new, but the owners aim to make the place to go for grooming and lifestyle products. They want to get brand name samples into the hands of guys through the membership service and help brands increase their presence and sales, as well as give their members proper direction on effective products all the while getting rid of the clutter of products out in the market.
