Movirtu

Movirtu is a supplier of innovative Virtual SIM solutions for mobile operators, disconnecting the mobile identity from the SIM card and enabling multiple numbers on standard SIM cards.

Movirtu WorkLife is virtual SIM-based solution that solves the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) mobile phone number ownership problem. With Movirtu WorkLife, mobile operators can help businesses overcome significant remaining barrier to widespread BYOD smartphone adoption by assigning a business number, as a second mobile number, to employees’ own handsets. Movirtu WorkLife facilitates separate personal/business billing by allowing employees to switch quickly and easily between corporate and private profiles to initiate outgoing calls and text messages. As a result, personal and business charges are automatically separated and business’ administrative overheads are minimised. Movirtu WorkLife is based on standard network technology, does not rely on VoIP (Voice over IP) and provides the same voice quality as regular phone calls. The offering can be deployed in any standard GSM network and uses an intuitive, colour-coded smartphone app to switch seamlessly between employees’ corporate and personal profiles on the handset. Movirtu WorkLife is based on Movirtu’s patented Virtual SIM platform, which enables multiple numbers to be active on a single, standard SIM card.

Movirtu is a private company, headquartered in London, UK with offices in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Movirtu ManyMe: Multiple Numbers on any SIM

Movirtu ManyMe solution enables mobile operators to offer multiple numbers on standard SIMs, offering an innovative solution to end-users while shielding users from competitors.

With Movirtu ManyMe deployed in the mobile operators network, subscribers can have multiple numbers activated on a single SIM device. It offers an elegant, standards based solution based on Movirtu’s patented Virtual SIM platform. Any mobile subscriber can take advantage of the service using their existing SIM card without the need for a new device or swapping SIMs. ManyME supports both feature phones and smartphones with a simple and intuitive app for smartphone users, which makes switching between numbers a seamless experience.

Mobile operators can boost their subscriber numbers and increase the ARPU from existing subscribers. ManyMe helps keeps customers on the same network, shielding them from a second SIM card by a competing network. The service also provides unique marketing opportunities for operators; for example, using segmented pricing for additional numbers to complement the existing account.

Movirtu Share: Phone Numbers for the Un-Phoned

Movirtu Share enables operators to offer a low-cost virtual SIM card to users at the base of the pyramid, extending market share in uncharted territory.

Over one billion people at the base of the pyramid cannot access mobile phone services even though they have network coverage where they live. The cost of buying and maintaining a handset prevents these users from taking advantage of a rich array of services such as voice, text and mobile money. Currently, these users often share phones with family and friends, use street side payphones managed by agents or community phones.

With Movirtu’s Share solution installed in the network of a mobile operator, it allows those who cannot afford a handset to become mobile subscribers. Movirtu Share provides a fully functioning individual Virtual SIM which they can access using any standard mobile phone. The solution enables mobile operators to offer low-cost mobile phone services for the one billion “un-phoned” people at the base of the pyramid. With Movirtu Share, they become identified subscribers, with their own phone number and prepaid account.

Movirtu WorkLife: Solving the BYOD Number Problem

The Movirtu WorkLife solution enables mobile operators to provide the missing piece of the BYOD puzzle – it solves the “BYOD Phone Number Problem”.

Increasingly, employees want to use their personal smartphones for business purposes. While the increase in productivity and cost-reduction provides advantages for the enterprise, this “consumerisation” of corporate communication also creates new issues: CIOs need to maintain the mobile phone number as a corporate asset, they do not want employees leaving the company and taking their main contact number with them. On the other hand, surrendering their mobile phone number is not a viable option for most employees.

The Movirtu WorkLife solution provides an elegant and standards-based solution to the BYOD phone number problem. With Movirtu WorkLife, the operator can provision a corporate number as a second mobile number onto the employee’s own device. If the employee leaves the company, the number can be removed from the device, quickly and securely. The solution works on existing network infrastructure and without the need for VoIP, a second or replacement SIM, or OS virtualisation.
