Move Networks

Move Networks provides Internet television delivery services to premium content owners and aggregators at a substantially lower cost and with much higher quality than competing solutions. Move Networks has inked several high-profile deals with clients including ABC, Discovery, Fox, Oprah, ESPN, and others. And with good reason–its technology offers high video quality, no buffering, and extremely responsive seeking and other controls.

Move Networks streams its content through a proprietary, intelligent browser plug-in that viewers install before watching video. The plug-in is responsible for Move’s high-quality adaptive streaming and also records statistics about every viewing experience.

Move Networks itself is not a Content Delivery Network (CDN). Move partners with CDNs, using them to deliver the Move content to the Move players.

Milestones

  • 4/22/09 — Move Networks acquires Inuk Networks, marking Move Networks official move into powering IPTV deployments.
  • 8/26/08 — Live Streaming of the Democratic National Committee Convention to Showcase Move Networks' Successful Integration with Microsoft Silverlight 2

Awesome CODEC! WMV quality sucks on my Mac and I love watching full episodes in HD on my 24" iMac via my Verizon EVDO cellphone.

I'm pretty sure Move Networks isn't a CDN. 100% sure actually.

It is great to be able to view the TV programs you missed via your computer with very few commercials.
