MobiTV (formerly Idetic) is not only a global TV and digital radio service, but and emmy winner as well (the company won “outstanding achievement in engineering development”). It’s services provide mobile device as well as PC users with a cable-like experience consisting of 100 or so channels worldwide with content from ABC to TLC to FOX to CSPAN. The company is extremely heavily funded as many have asked why? The company offers its services through Sprint, AT&T, Alltel and others regional carriers in America. As of August 2007 it has over a million subscribers which is impressive for a fairly low profile company, but not so considering its $100 million plus bank account. The company has garnered so much cash in an effort to increase its advertising reach and to develop technologies that could help MobiTV’s service reach more viewers once WiMax and other ubiquitous networks take stand. The Service costs $10 monthly. Competitors include Verizon, Modeo and Joost and Babelgum (on PCs).
