Mobile17 is a “ringtone maker” website that enables users to create mobile content (such as ringtones and graphics) at no-charge. When initially launched in 2005, it sported the name “SmashTheTones”. After being featured on the now defunct TechTV’s “The Screen Savers” and reviewed in Sarah Lane’s ‘Damn Good Download’ weekly segment, (video-clip is on YouTube) the site was revamped and the project’s name matured from “SmashTheTones” to “Mobile17”.
The site has been mentioned in publications such as Popular Science and Men’s Health magazines, as well as The Boston Globe.
