|Seed, 3/2008 |
Mob.ly, formerly Goodrec, is a mobile and online recommendation service that provides brief, to-the-point recommendations from friends and trusted sources that launched at TechCrunch50 in 2008. The service makes it easy to make, find and remember actionable recommendations from anywhere: online, via its iPhone application or from any mobile browser. Mobly was acquired by Groupon in May 2010.
|Launch Date||September, 2008|
GoodRec enables fast and informed decision-making with ‘Thumbs Up’/’Thumbs Down’ recommendations and valuable Quick Tips. Its proprietary technology makes intelligent suggestions based on personal taste and friends’ recommendations across categories including restaurants, movies, books and more, and displays “recs” for nearby spots in location-based categories. Users can quickly find exactly what they want by sorting and filtering “recs” based on personal preferences, location or “want to” lists of bookmarked recommendations.
Goodrec ensures that users are always informed about the places and things they will like most, assured they are getting the information from the people they know and trust, and confident that they are making a smart decision.
Goodrec has launched their first open iPhone app, called GoodFood, for finding and recommending restaurants when on the go. It’s available in the iPhone App Store at: http://goodrec.com/downloads/goodfood/iphone/
