MetroLyrics provides the largest database of licensed, complete and accurate song lyrics through its partnership with Gracenote. The company’s lyrics licensing approach ensures artists, songwriters and music publishers are properly compensated for the use of their copyrighted lyrics. The site was founded in 2002 by then 16-year-old Milun Tesovic, and today is the top lyrics website in the world with more than 32 million unique monthly visitors.
In April 2009 MetroLyrics became the exclusive lyrics partner for all AOL Music properties, and provides approximately 30% of all AOL Music traffic. In addition to being a top 10 music destination worldwide, MetroLyrics provides lyrics applications that can be used in Web sites and blogs, across social media networks, and on mobile devices.
MetroLyrics is the flagship product from MetroLeap Media Inc., which has been recognized as a Red Herring Canada Top 50 company, and was awarded the Burnaby Business Excellence Award in 2008. MetroLeap Media’s founder, Milun Tesovic, received the Simon Fraser University Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2008, and the 2009 National Student Entrepreneur Awards, for which he will compete on a worldwide stage in Chicago in the fall of 2009.
