Meraki

Meraki came out of a research project at MIT back in 2006. Started with the intent to help create and expand affordable internet access to people around the world, Meraki has grown rapidly from its modest roots. It started with one network in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is now in 70 countries no more than a year later.

Meraki is funded by Sequoia Capital, DAG Ventures, Northgate Capital, and Google. It received a $20 million series B in part to provide all of San Francisco, CA with free wireless broadband internet access.
