LocalUncle

localuncle (formerly loqize.me) is a location-based Q&A platform to get local advice from friends and locals. It’s like Quora but focused entirely on location (venue, local businesses, attractions or points of interest).

You’ll use localuncle whenever you ask yourself “Where…?” and you’ll stop googling for it (Yikes!).

A couple of graduates from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich started working on localuncle just for fun as a side project during weekends in summer 2010. In October 2010 they launched a closed alpha and early users loved the concept. Based on that positive feedback, they decided to pursue this project more seriously and localuncle was born.

The company was incorporated in Switzerland in February 2011. The platform is currently in private beta and invitation-only.
