Limbo is another geo-aware social network that behaves like a mashup of Twitter, Loopt, and Whrrl. One of the app’s most compelling features is its grid-like diagram that visually groups your friends according to what they’re doing (for example, all of your friends that are Out Drinking will be lumped together, even if they aren’t necessarily drinking in the same place). The app accomplishes this feat by forcing users to select from a predefined hiarchial list of activities (while this might sound restrictive, the list is pretty comprehensive). This categorization allows users to see what they’re friends are up to without having to sift through each of their messages.

You can download the app here for free.

if you are sending me updates to my phone, STOP. It cost me money and I don't want it. Get out of my life!!!!
what happened - August 8, 2008 at 6:20pm
I used to play Limbo everyday and actually won a few times. I stopped when the quality of the prizes dropped dramatically and I couldn't come close to winning with so many more competitors. They also stopped giving away freebies to people who played on the web for free. I wonder how long it took for them to figure out that they shouldn't reward those users. In LinkedIn, I noticed that there are a lot more Limbo alums than current employees. The company must have burned through so much cash by offering too many higher value prizes and overhiring. Based on the nav bar, the company emphasizes its social network more than the prizes now.
