Liftopia is an online travel-like yield management and distribution platform for the mountain resort industry, selling discount lift tickets and mountain related activities to alpine resorts across the United States. Their partner resorts can offer exclusive deals and manipulate pricing and inventory in real time in order to target incremental demand. Liftopia is also partnered with KickApps for third-party services.
Liftopia was founded by two former Hotwire.com employees, Ron Schneidermann and Evan Reece.
In March of 2008, they received Series A funding from Sand Hill Angels and Erik Blachford, former CEO of Expedia and current CEO of TerraPass.
