Librato

Librato is an infrastructure software as a service company dedicated to delivering beautiful, easy to use tools that make managing your operations more fun and efficient.

Librato currently offers two services: Metrics and Silverline.

Metrics provides monitoring as a service that allows users to collect, store, and visualize any metrics in minutes. The services is designed so that users can leverage it for any and all type of metrics. Now it is possible to see website sign-ups alongside infrastructure and business metrics. Users can correlate the data that is important to their business regardless of its origin.

Data sources can be custom, commercial or open source Data Collectors. Librato is working alongside their user community to build connectors for existing open source data collectors such as statsd or nagios to get data into Metrics as easily as possible.

Silverline is an advanced application monitoring and application resource management service that helps maximize the utilization of hardware and software assets in clouds and data centers, while guaranteeing the desired application Quality of Service. Silverline makes it possible for multiple applications to run concurrently on the same virtual or physical server, while giving the user full control over the resources available for each workload. The result is an improved utilization of server resources as well as better and more predictable peak load performance of applications running on client’s servers. Silverline supports the most popular Linux distributions on virtual and physical servers in public or private clouds and “traditional” datacenters.

The company was formerly known as Evergrid and changed its name to Librato in October 2008. The company was incorporated in 2002 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California.

Metrics is monitoring as a service that allows you to track any time series data, be it infrastructure, application and even business metrics - all in one unified environment. Our approach is to expose an open, RESTful API through which users can send or retrieve data. We then provide scalable, redundant storage, graphs, dashboards and alerts.

To get data into our system clients use open source collection agents such as CollectD, StatsD, Sensu, or language bindings to collect all the metrics.

Silverline

Silverline allows users to monitor and manage server resource consumption at the application level. Users can not only track CPU, memory, disk and network I/O for each application, they can set quotas and thereby guarantee resources for each application.
