The WVAS (Wireless Value-Added Services) business unit provides interactive entertainment, media, and other interactive services to mobile phone users through various second generation standard and 2G technology platforms.
This segment offers various WVAS, such as mobile games, pictures, karaoke, electronic books, mobile phone personalization features, entertainment news, chat, and message boards. The Mobile Games business unit develops and publishes mobile games, including action, role-playing, and leisure games for mobile phone users.
The Internet Games business unit develops Internet games. The company sells its WVAS and mobile games through telecommunication operators, and other distribution partners. The company was formerly known as Communication Over The Air Inc. and changed its name to KongZhong Corporation in March 2004.
KongZhong Corporation was founded on May 6, 2002 and is headquartered in Beijing, the Peoples Republic of China. Backed up by American and Hong Kong venture capital firms, it went public in 2004 in NASDAQ. In 2010, KongZhong made up 8.89% of the mobile game market, ranking first among the industry. Its mobile games include Warrior vs Monster and Kingdom Story.
