KnowledgeTree develops turnkey document management software for non-technical SMB users.

KnowledgeTree is open source software and the Community Edition is licensed under the GPLv3. The KnowledgeTree Community Edition application has been downloaded over 500,000 times from SourceForge.net (May 2008) and a large community is supported by KnowledgeTree’s community forum and forge system.

The KnowledgeTree application is available as both a customer premise and Software-as-a-Service offering. The customer premise offering is available as both a one-click installer and a software appliance. The Software-as-a-Service offering is built on top of Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud and Simple Storage Service.

KnowledgeTree’s commercial offerings provide strong integration with desktop applications, including Microsoft Office.

The application is architecturally similar to Drupal and SugarCRM, having been written in PHP and leveraging the MySQL Database engine. Community driven integration module projects exist for both of Drupal and SugarCRM.
