KindCoins is a search engine that combines elements of social gaming with cause support. Leveraging Yahoo’s search platform, KindCoins enables users to win cash donations to specified causes, as well as KindCoins while searching the web.
KindCoins are a virtual currency that users collect and convert into ‘Acts of Kindness’. These acts include things such as give a meal to someone in need, plant a tree, help prevent animal cruelty, provide clean water, etc. Each act represents a micro-donation to an affiliated charitable organization. KindCoins funds these actions by allocating 50% of their revenues towards charitable contributions.
The site is heavily integrated into Facebook and includes a number of social elements. KindCoins is trying to make something we do every day, i.e. search the web, more fun, engaging and socially meaningful.
