Founded in 2000 following the mergers of eCommerce sites Zoomit, Dondecomprar and Shopgenie, Kelkoo is the massive price comparison site operating in 10 European countries which was bought by Yahoo for $670 million in 2004.
Kelkoo is the leading eCommerce site in Europe after Amazon and Ebay, yet it has not been performing well for its parent company Yahoo as hinted by rumors of a possible sale. The company provides comparisons on over 2 million products including those by technology brands such as Apple and Sony as well as non-tech brands such as Black & Decker and Aston Martin.
Kelkoo has been profitable since Q4 of 2002, yet it may be heading for the same end as Google’s competing platform, Froogle.
