Judys Book

Judy’s Book is a search service for finding local and online coupons, sales and deals. It’s kind of like that wad of coupons your grandma carries around with her but way bigger and more resourceful and you can add reviews. In 2004, Seth Godin called it “Craig’s List meets Zagats meets Orkut.”

Judy’s Book allows small businesses to submit their deal info, which the site publishes in a highly searchable way. Users can track item categories or specific local and online stores. Any online or local store can build a Judy’s Book profile that users can review and rate.

Users can post any deals, coupons or sales they want. They can also “enhance” previous postings with more detailed info, extra reviews or more defining tags. Everything users do is tracked on their MyDeals profile page.

Judy’s Book was founded in early 2004. Competitors include Yelp, insiderpages, Craigslist and Citysearch.

The company was deadpooled in October 2007.

In October 2008 Judy’s book relaunched with new owners.

Judy’s Book home page is easy to navigate. You have a search box where you can look up deals in a specific city like “San Francisco, CA” or you can just search for “restaurants” and they will show all the restaurants plus reviews in your area.

It’s really easy to add reviews, submit deals and post questions. And, if you want to track deals from a specific store all you do is push the “Add to MyBook” button and it will track the store on your profile page.

Another great feature is being able to “enhance” business profile information. Users can easily update or add to a businesses’ profile.

couponlooker is a great search product that aggregates coupon savings from all the top coupon sites. You will find no bells or whistles on the site just simple, effective coupon search.

When you search for “pizza” coupons you’re returned results from all the coupon sites plus merchants. The side panel provides you with popular searches related to your search query and it also provides you with a list of merchants offering coupons.

The side panel also tells you the minimum and maximum percentage off for the coupon results, which is really handy.

couponlooker is a standalone site but is a product of the Judy’s Book team.
