John Peterson has made a career out of helping small businesses preserve themselves for multiple generations. He has practiced law for over 35 years in the state of Oregon. John specializes in legal planning services and tax business planning needs. He has spent several years working with multi generational family-owned businesses in succession planning, estate planning, and business strategy.
Areas of expertise include developing overall strategic plans, preserving family wealth, implementing sound business structures, leveraging tax benefits, working with entire families to help manage the transfer of ownership between members, acquisition of businesses, and the sale of assets and strategic business planning. His expertise of family-owned businesses has helped businesses that go back at least four generations; he works aggressively and diligently to ensure that family-owned businesses are not only protected, but are also able to reap tax benefits unbeknownst to them.
With over 35 years of practicing law John has had the opportunity to work one-on-one with a wealth of businesses from a diverse collection of industries. He’s aided business owners from such industries as timber and forestry, e-commerce, logging, agriculture, manufacturing, and construction. He currently sits on the board of directors with the nations leading Business Plan development and consulting firm.
As one of the founding member of Juliet’s House, a non-profit dedicated to stopping child abuse, John maintains a strong presence in his community. As a people person who fervently cares about the success and progress of his clients, John is one of Oregon’s proponents in meeting the special needs of family-owned businesses.
