Jimdo is a website editor that lets users quickly create websites complete with blog, photo galleries, video, online store, and more. Jimdo caters to less technical users through its straightforward interface.
Jimdo started as a group of three friends selling basic site creation tools for the enterprise. The site creation tools developed into a freemium version and now they have over 8,000,000 sites in eleven different languages (German, English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Polish and Dutch).
In the first two months of 2010, Jimdo added a drag-and-drop interface and released an e-commerce function (integrated with PayPal), making it possible for all Jimdo sites to set up online stores.
Competitors include Weebly, Sampa, RealEditor and Synthasite.

The JimdoFree version is hosted on Jimdo with a “dot Jimdo” URL address. The version has less storage than the premium version and comes with integrated ads. The integrated ads consisting of two text links don’t detract too much from page theme and style.
