iStockphoto is an online marketplace for images and videos. The site’s photo library contains over 2.2 million images from over 40,000 artists. Once approved by the site, photographers can upload their images and receive 20-40% of each sale. Photos range in price (depending on size) from $1 to $15 and videos (depending on quality) range from $10 to $50.
iStockphoto never had VC funding or investors before being acquired. The company’s competitors include Zooomr, Dreamstime and Fotolia.
