InGrid

A Pennsylvania company, InGrid Inc. is one of the first digital home protection companies to heavily incorporate broadband into their services. Marketed towards homes and small businesses, InGrid offers mobile access to your security program and decentralizes access for better protection from intruders. In case of broadband failure, InGrid components are backed up through a phone line. Since its birth in 2004, it has gained more than $30 million in venture financing over 3 rounds and cleared 15 U.S. patents.

InGrid entered the security arena with an eye to take advantage of the 60 million U.S. homes with broadband internet, but without a security system. With an existing $8 billion analog security market, a broadband upgrade will increase the market size as more homes adopt broadband connections.

InGrid uses wireless security hubs which are placed at doors and windows to cover all potential openings in a home or office. Hubs are connected wirelessly through your broadband connection with an additional fail-safe wire connected to your phone jack in case broadband is offline. Working in unison or independently, all the hubs report when doors or windows are opened and closed to prevent the whole system from going down because of a single fail point.InGrid’s system can be accessed through your computer, cell phone or wireless home phone. While mobile, InGrid allows you to arm and disarm your system. However, through any web browser you can arm/disarm and change or remove access codes from your system. The resounding difference between InGrid and traditional security systems is that InGrid offers easier access to your security system’s settings while decentralizing it to lessen possible points of vulnerability.
