Breaking into the job search market at its very beginning, Indeed now grows its job index by almost 1 million jobs per week. Searching major career websites such as Monster to blog job boards like TechCrunch’s, Indeed has managed to cover a significant amount of long tail jobs. Its index is mostly generated automatically by its search engine, however companies can request to have their jobs added to Indeed’s index manually. As manual input is generally not avoidable altogether, a completely automated process could theoretically find jobs further down the long tail.
Direct competitor, Simply Hired, doesn’t have a completely automated process either, however, Vast, a company with job search overlap, does.Indeed has a few bonuses for the interested user including a job trends graph which displays the number of jobs with a variable keyword over time. Searching for the term sales will show a graph with flat slope. The “Google” search has a positive slope almost at 1. Other extras include a Firefox job search plugin, a salary search and new search results delivered to you by RSS or email.
