Impossible Software provides real-time video composition and compression technology that brand marketers and advertisers can scale to 100’s of individualized and interactive streams.
Brand marketers have deployed Impossible Software to bring innovative video to their sites in a variety of ways. Audi creates streaming video of an auto; the viewer of the video can change the color, wheels, and trim – even put the top down – as the video is running. Playboy (Germany) creates a novelty video – Bunnies at Home – which includes the viewer’s picture and name. Sony-Ericsson renders the viewer’s face in 3D onto a breakdancer as part of a contest. All of these sites benefit from longer time on site, direct feedback of user preferences/information, and the potential to go viral.
The technology supports limited special effects, alpha compositing, and MPEG4 compression (Flash wrapper or MP4 file) in real time with low latency. This enables interactive video… video where feedback from the user is reflected in the video stream in as little as a quarter of a second. The only limit on special effects is the price of processing power. The “impossible” thing is that Impossible Software can deliver 100’s of individualized streams simultaneously and economically.
Currently, Impossible Software delivers based on a SaaS model on COTS hardware. Large-scale, long-term, or reseller customers may also opt for licensing, although there is an NRE to help engineer the delivery system.
