iMemories allows users to convert their home movies captured on older formats like 8mm and 16mm film into digitally remastered versions available via DVD and broadband. Upon purchase of iMemories’ service, customers are given a round-trip FedEx delivery to send their home movies to iMemories. Users are then sent a high-quality DVD of their movies and are also given access to a password-protected online screening room to view their videos. Founder and CEO Mark Rukavina’s previous venture, KnowledgeNet, was sold to Thomson in 2004.
While video sharing players like YouTube and MetaCafe focus on allowing users to upload their videos and store them online, iMemories is focused on providing the boomer segment with copies of their home movies that will last a lifetime.
