iMedix is one of the leading healthcare community and search platforms on the web. The iMedix platform allows millions of patients to search for any medical condition, symptom or treatment and learn from the valuable experiences of others. Founded in January 2007 by Amir Leitersdorf and Iri Amirav, iMedix was featured on numerous publications such as the New York Times, CNN, PC Magazine and was selected as one of the 10 most promising internet startups in Israel for 2009. In addition, iMedix won 4 prestigious awards in 2008, including “Best New Startup of the Year” in the worldwide Crunchies competition.
iMedix aims to combine the best aspects of social networking, search, and healthcare to allow patients to find and connect with people facing similar health-related issues as themselves. A user visits iMedix to search for content on health-related matters, and in the course of their search would also be presented with opportunities to connect with other users interested in the same issues, either via chat or messaging. Users create profile pages with tags relevant to their interests to inform the site’s search engine, and search results can be voted on in order to help the site learn more about your preferences over time.
