HubPages allows anyone to publish, discover and interact with people who share their interests.
Over 600,000 articles (hubs) have been published by over 100,000 different authors since the site’s inception in August 2006. HubPages authors (Hubbers) earn recognition among their peers through the community-wide HubScore ranking system and through their own fan clubs. Authors can even earn money through online ads displayed on their hubs. The site’s easy-to-use features allow authors to include pictures, videos, links, polls, quizzes and more in their hubs without needing to know any Web programming. All of this is provided free to HubPages authors in an open online community, which enjoys over 17 million visitors monthly.
Note that HubPages is the creator of YieldBuild.

HubPages allows users with little or no technical background to create Hubs or content rich web articles. HubPages authors, known as Hubbers, are able to earn money by publishing their Hubs on any topic. The HubPages ecosystem provides a search-friendly infrastructure which drives traffic to Hubs from search engines such as Google and Yahoo; this enables Hubbers to earn revenue from advertising vehicles such as Google AdSense, Kontera, and the eBay and Amazon Affiliates programs. HubPages is a free service provided to the “Hubbers” in order to establish an open online community.

YieldBuild is a new service from online publishing ecosystem HubPages. Their aim is to optimize the advertisement units of your website. They attempt to capitalize on a primary shortcoming of contextual advertisements: After their initial placement into text by publishers, formatting, placement, and layout is seldom altered and tested to see if response can be improved.
YeildBuild is able to automatically optimize your site’s ad spots with the most profitable combination of ad layout, style, and network. The system continually tests alternative configurations of layouts, networks, and color as it looks for the highest performing ones. It takes about 100,000 impressions to train the system. As users become unresponsive to the ads, the system switches to a more profitable combination of layout and networks. Setup is easy and similar to Google AdSense.
Rubicon project - an optimization platform that finds the best mix of ad network and demographic data - remains the primary competitor. YeildBuild attempts to differentiate themselves from the crowd by focusing on layout and design.
