Hookflash is a Canadian company. Hookflash is also the name of their product family for realtime communication for people who work together.
Hookflash for iPad is the first product, an iOS app announced at the DEMO Fall 2011 conference. It is being tested in private release. It offers users Hookflash-to-Hookflash instant messaging, voice calling and conferencing, video calling and conferencing over Hookflash’s OpenPeer peer-to-peer network. The app also has business telephony features like call transfer and line hunting and social network features like profiles with activity data from sources like LinkedIn and sharing of recorded conversations. The company announced the iPad app will be free and the company will operate on a freemium business model.
Hookflash co-founders Trent Johnsen and Erik Lagerway are a seasoned team of entrepreneurs and technological innovators with extensive experience in IP-based real-time communications (RTC). The two worked together to successfully introduce a major Microsoft VoIP initiative.
Johnsen has multiple successful start-ups and exits under his belt and was the co-founder and CEO of Canada’s largest, fastest-growing VoIP provider for small and medium businesses. Most recently, he worked with Lagerway to provide a national SIP carrier for a new Microsoft voice product.
Lagerway is one of the pioneer founders of softphone technology and with that enabled voice, video calling and messaging on computers for millions of users, as well as corporate customers that include major telecom providers around the globe. A highly regarded active leader in the international IP communications and standards community, Lagerway has been building innovative new ways to communicate for more than 15 years.
