Hitwise provides internet traffic analysis.

Hitwise, an Experian company was founded in February 1997 (acquired by Experian in 2007)

Instead of using a more traditional monitoring approach, i.e. client side software limiting the sample size (10k-50k), Hitwise applies a measurement method that leverages ISP networks, (instead of recruiting individual panel members). Hitwise cliams that by working with ISPs to monitor traffic flows anonymously it has a vastly bigger sample size which allows it to report more accurately on many more sites (i.e. beyond the 1000 or so of traditional competitors).
