HealthCentral comprises over 30 condition-specific, wellness and general health Web properties. These include destinations for allergy, bipolar, cholesterol, high blood pressure and more. At these sites, users can read news, watch videos, interact with other patients, and search through reputable publications such as Harvard Health Publications. The company also produces the nationally syndicated television show, “Medical Breakthroughs with Dr. Dean Edell.”

HealthCentral was acquired in 2005 by Polaris Venture Partners, The Carlyle Group, Sequoia Capital, and Allen & Company. Since then, IAC acquired a significant minority stake in the company.

HealthCentral competes with WebMD, RevolutionHealth, iVillage Health, and About.com Health.
