InterGrid are the creators of middleware called the GreenButton. GreenButton sits between existing desktop applications and the Windows Azure cloud to offload processor intensive tasks such as 3D rendering, or Biotech analysis for rapid processing.
GreenButton differentiates itself from PaaS providers by adding more advanced applications and services required for multiple users, billing, advanced queue management which is required for ISV’s to effectively charge for online services. The GreenButton also were the first to market with their patented Job Prediction for the 3D rendering market whereby files that need to be processed get a price and time quoted before submission. Most other render service providers charge ‘after’ the processing.
GreenButton offers a SDK to help other Software vendors utilise their technology to quickly get benefits from the Cloud, without having to rewrite the application completely.
