Goom Radio is a digital radio-style entertainment source that offers web listeners the chance to experience professionally-produced, high-quality radio entertainment.
The company is led by CEO Rob Williams, formerly of Clear Channel, and Drew Hilles, a founder of dMarc Broadcasting which was acquired by Google.
The service, set to launch July 2009, will offer a variety of stations ranging from hip-hop to country and music genres that are traditionally underserved on terrestrial radio such as indie rock and young alternative. The service will include a MyGoom feature which will enable users to create their own radio, which can be shared with friends and fellow-listeners with similar interests. Through the MyGoom feature, users will be able to influence music that is played and will be able to contribute to programming through a set of audio blogging features.
