Global Name Registry

Global Name Registry (GNR) is the license operator of .name, a global top-level domain (gTLD) for individuals, approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in November 2000 and launched in 2002.

The company offers two types of registration products: second level domains of the type morgan.name (structured like .com domains, except much more names are available on .name), and third level domains, which include personalized email address name.

.name domains do for people what .com domains did for companies!

.name users receive a personal email address based on their own name. The domains are also integrated with OpenID, allowing users to login using just their name.

The .name infrastructure is offered worldwide by Global Name Registry - a profitable company based in London, UK, under contract with ICANN.
